We've cut it into spindles of 1 3 4" across and 8" long. The grain on this piece is long and straight, with swirls around small and infrequent burl buds. We have air dried this Texas Ebony log for 5+ years. Moisture content is 10 12%. Janka hardness is 2820 lbf. Density is 80 lb ft3. This wood is very dense and hard, one of the hardest available
| Texas Ebony Block TE-555 1.75" x 1.75" x 8" 1.2 lbs. This is a beautiful piece of Texas Ebony heartwood. We've cut it into spindles of 1 3/4" across and 8" long. The grain on this piece is long and straight, with swirls around small and infrequent burl buds. We have air-dried this Texas Ebony log for 5+ years. Moisture content is 10-12%. Janka hardness is 2820 lbf. Density is 80 lb/ft3. This wood is very dense and hard, one of the hardest available in North America. The finished products are exquisite. This block has some very minor end-grain checking (see close-up photo) and one crack that is larger. There is also a patch of softened heartwood in about 20% of this block; we've discounted because of the crack and the weathering. The weathered area is still firm but will need stabilization if you wish to turn it. |

Little pricey, but worth it
Very nice product. Creates a clean look on my fiances night stand rather than having everything all over the place. I like the little compartment with the door, its nice for putting things out of sight. The coin compartment is nice as well. The curve of the bottom makes it easy to get the coins out. I do think its a little pricey for what it is, but i still feel it was worth it to organize the clutter.
