Hij heeft in de jaren 1865 1870, verreweg het merendeel in 1865 1867, alle toenmalige Nederlandse gemeenten in kaart gebracht. De gemeentekaartjes zijn dan ook vooral bekend onder de noemer Kuyperkaartjes. Kuijper was
