Voor ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ werkt Rodrigo opnieuw samen met haar vaste partner Dan Nigro, die terugkeert als producent. Het album is geïnspireerd op Rodrigo's tijd in Londen en ze gaf aan dat dit haar meest experimentele werk tot nu toe wordt.
