1. VESTIGO MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO VENEA
TERRE DI CHIETI ABRUZZEN ITALIË 
De familie Paolucci verbouwt al generaties druiven
op heuvels in het zuiden van de Abruzzo, de Terre di Chieti. Bij Venea past men de speciale indroog techniek toe, bekend uit het Valpolicella - Veneto gebied, in speciale hygiënische droogkasten. Door het verwerken van de deels ingedroogde Montepulciano druiven ontstaat een zeer geconcentreerde wijn zonder stroeve tannines. Heeft wat weg van een Ripasso. Diepe kleur, veel geur en een intense smaakbeleving. Rijpe bramen, bessen, laurier, mediterrane kruiden. Ondanks kracht en diepgang zeer energiek, verfijnd en volop drinkplezier. Schenktemperatuur: 16-18 °C
Serveren bij: Heerlijk bij wild, gegrild rood vlees, zachte romige kaas, kruidige pastagerechten.

2. TORRAZZO, PRATELLO DOC VALTÈNESI, ITALIË 
Uit twee biologisch geteelde lokale druivenrassen (Groppello & Marzemino) componeert wijnmaker Vincenzo Bertola deze soepel smakende, intens fruitige vooral zachte rode wijn.

Pittig en complex maar daarnaast ook toegankelijk, licht en fris, sappig, fruitig en vrolijk met hint van rinse kersen, framboos, pruimen en kreupelhout. Serveer temperatuur 16-18 °C

Serveren bij: Fris en toegankelijk maar met voldoende ‘body’ om vlees, (veder) wild of zacht romige en rijpe kazen aan te kunnen. Licht gekoeld geserveerd de beste combinatie bij pasta met tomaten etc (zoet zuur frisse van tomaat). Maar ..redt het ook bij visgerechten.

 

3. CIRCUS, CANTINA LVNAE, LIGURIË 

De naam LVNAE komt van de plaats Luni, een oude Etruskisch/Griekse haven opgedragen aan de Griekse
god Selene. Het domein met steenachtige rijke bodem,
ligt op de heuvels van de Apennijnen, 11 km vanaf de Middellandse Zee, in Ligurië en staat bekend om het gebruik van lokale druivensoorten. Assemblage van ca
15 jaar oude Albarossa, Alicante Bouchet en Massereta. Een volle, krachtige wijn met een spannende, maar aanwezige tannine structuur. Alles op RVS. Intens robijnrode kleur, aroma met wilde bloemen en rijp rood fruit. Mondvullend elegant en harmonisch met lange finale en fluweelzachte tannines.
Schenktemperatuur: 18 °C
Serveren bij: Fijne vleeswaren, stevige voorgerechten, stoofpotje met aardappelen, pasta met vleessaus, veder- wild, bij konijn, spicy Oosterse gerechten, kip, rood of wit vlees, in ieder geval bij gerechten met een bite.

4. PRIMITIVO DI MANDURIA VILLA MOTTURA PUGLIA 

Familiebedrijf Mottura zetelt in de hak van de laars, in Zuid Italie rond ‘t prachtige stadje Lecce. Sinds 2015 heeft men als consulent oenoloog onze favoriete wijn- maker Emiliano Rossi (Ca dei Frati en Pratello) aan- getrokken. Het resultaat is nu al merkbaar: meer gul sap, meer spanning en grotere verteerbaarheid. Niet overrijp, zwaar en alcoholisch, maar juist heel prettig drinkbaar. Een fluweelzachte wijn Schenktemperatuur: 16-18 °C

Serveren bij: licht gerookte rode biet, paddenstoelen, gerechten met een klein zoetje denk aan wild, gebraden rood vlees als rund en wild, lamsschouder, stoofschotels en rijpe kazen.

5. POGGIO D’ARNA IGT ROSSO TOSCANA
De Grote Hamersma: 9. Geproefd op 17 maart 2020
Tenuta di Sesta is gelegen in het zuidelijke deel van de gemeente Montalcino, waar de heuvel Poggio d Arna de wijngaarden beschermt tegen de koude noordelijke wind. Deze originele blend van 40% Sangiovese Grosso, 30% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot van kalkrijke bodem wordt een jaar gerijpt in Franse Allier barriques en in 15 hl Slavonische eiken vaten.
Diep robijnrood van kleur, met intense neus waarin rood fruit en kruiden. Harmonieus, gepolijst, zacht en omhullend van smaak, mooi gestructureerd met goed gedoseerde frisheid en fluweelzachte tannines.
Schenktemperatuur: 16-18 °C
Serveren bij: Een rode wijn voor elke maaltijd, uitstekend bij rood vlees maar ook bij lams-, kalfs- of varkensvlees, groenten gerechten en stevige witvissoorten op de graat gebakken

6. ROSSO DI MONTALCINO DOC TENUTA DI SESTA
Vol klassiek en elegant, de Rosso di Montalcino, gemaakt van 100% Sangiovese Grosso, wordt beschouwd als de jongere broer van Brunello. Een
jaar gerijpt in 20 hl Slavonische eikenhouten vaten, combineert de wijn de statige structuur van een Brunello met de frisheid en levendigheid van een
jonge wijn. Intens robijnrood van kleur, uitbundige neus met rood fruit, zwarte bessen, zwarte peper, zoethout en tabak. Vol, intens en harmonieus van
smaak, lang aanhoudende aroma’s van rood fruit in combinatie met fluweelzachte, ronde tannines. Een feestje waard. Schenktemperatuur: 16-18 °C advies: drinken in zijn jeugd. Serveren bij: Ossenhaas Rossini en andere rundvlees- gerechten, gestoofd wild of lamsschouder, gerechten met truffel, gevulde ravioli of paddenstoelen pasta’s.

I’m a big fan of “touch her, and you die” vibes, but I mean, what’s also not to love about a unique Arthurian retelling with gender twists, a treacherous royal court, a dangerous quest, magical Fae & mystical monsters, entwined with a bit of spice! Morgan, Princess of Pendrath and true heir to the throne has spent most of her life dimming her light to feel safe and to make others comfortable. She is treated as an outcast in the court and repressed by her family due to the blood of the Fae within her and forced to join the Temple of the Three as a priestess in training to one day replace Merlin. Her brother, King Arthur, who reminds me of Joffrey from Game of Thrones, later tells her that he has other plans and offers her a choice of the Temple or to marry her off for political gain, unless… that is, she can journey through the great unknown and return with a long-lost fae weapon with enchanted powers known as Excalibur. Her quest begins with a roguish crew that includes the mysterious, arrogant, and heart-tuggingly handsome Captain of the Royal Guard, Kairos Draven, whom she can’t decide if she wants to stab or indulge in pleasure with. Along the way are plenty of surprises, mystical creatures, and betrayal, all while Morgan uncovers more of the truth about herself and who she can trust. This book had intriguing storylines and lovable characters that kept me turning pages and wanting more. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds and comes together in book 2, Court of Claws, which I just started reading!! Wow so I'm not sure where to begin on this one. This was a very different take on the legend of Arthur and Excalibur. This is told from the point of view of Morgan the sister of Arthur. Honestly the first 50% of this book is world building and character building which unfortunately was super boring for me. Morgan to me was a female MC that had a hard time in believing in herself. Sometimes taking too long to understand exactly what was going on around her. Draven was also a different male MC, like I couldn't put my finger on him and what he was all about. It was not until the last 10% of the book did we get some answers on the mystery that is Draven. The other 50% of the book centered around this big journey with everyone having a different motive. We see a spark of magic around this time that had me excited but then we never expanded upon that and what it could mean for the female MC. I feel like I want to read the second book just to see where this goes, but the spice was probably a 2 out of 5. Side characters are ok, Lancelet was fun but I almost felt like I wanted more.

Going into this story, I did not realize that it was going to be a retelling of Arthurian legend, especially not one with a fantastical twist! The unique spin almost gave me The Witcher vibes and I think adding Fae into the mix was quite interesting. I knew the basics of the legend but after reading this book, it has piqued my interest and makes me want to learn more about it. My attention was snatched as soon as I finished the prologue and I knew that I was going to devour this story. I truly enjoyed the gender swaps and even how Arthur was portrayed as villainous. Morgan’s past and even her parts of her present is absolutely heartbreaking, and I felt for her at times. I can only recall one other book that made me hate characters the way I despised Florian and Arthur, leaving me with my blood boiling and feeling disgusted. Even after finishing the book, Draven is still a mystery to me and I cannot figure out how to feel about him. I guess they just means that the author did an excellent job at conveying each character’s persona! The rich world building and imagery made it easy for me to visualize the places that the group visited along their journey. I am truly engulfed in this story and I cannot wait to see wait fate awaits Morgan and how the Fae will be even more incorporated in the next book!.
