Victron RS485 to USB Interface Cable: Reliable Data Communication for Energy Monitoring

Seamless Integration Between Victron Energy Meters and GX Devices

The Victron RS485 to USB interface 5m cable provides a robust, plug-and-play solution for connecting Victron energy meters to GX monitoring devices. Engineered for precision data transfer, this cable ensures accurate, real-time energy readings across your system, enabling smarter energy management and optimised performance.

Designed specifically for the Victron ecosystem, this RS485 to USB interface eliminates the complexity of custom wiring and signal conversion. The integrated USB-A connector houses the RS485 converter circuitry, delivering a clean, reliable connection without additional adapters or configuration. Whether you're monitoring a single-phase or three-phase installation, this cable simplifies commissioning and reduces potential points of failure.

Purpose-Built for Victron Energy Meter Installations

This cable is the official interface for linking Victron EM24 energy meters and other compatible RS485 meters to Cerbo GX, Color Control GX, or Venus OS devices. It transmits critical data including voltage, current, power, and energy consumption, allowing your GX device to display and log comprehensive system insights.

With a 5-metre cable length, it offers generous reach for tidy installations, routing from meter enclosures to control panels without straining connections. The cable can be extended up to 100 metres using appropriate RS485 wiring practices, making it suitable for larger commercial or off-grid setups where equipment is distributed across a site.

Clear, Colour-Coded Conductors for Fast Termination

The cable features pre-stripped and tinned wire ends, ready for secure connection to RS485 terminals. Colour coding follows the Victron standard:

  • Orange – Data + (A)
  • Yellow – Data – (B)
  • Black – GND (common reference)

Unused conductors (red, green, brown) are isolated, preventing confusion during installation. This thoughtful design reduces wiring errors and speeds up commissioning, particularly valuable for professional installers managing multiple sites.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Direct RS485 to USB interface for Victron energy meters and GX devices
  • 5-metre cable length with option to extend up to 100 metres
  • Integrated USB-A connector with built-in RS485 converter – no external adapters needed
  • Colour-coded, tinned conductors for straightforward, error-free termination
  • Compatible with Victron EM24, ET112, ET340, and other RS485-enabled meters
  • Supports stable data transmission for accurate energy monitoring and system control

Engineered for Consistent Performance in Demanding Environments

Victron's attention to detail extends to the cable's construction. The high-quality insulation resists abrasion and environmental stress, maintaining signal integrity even in engine rooms, switchboards, or outdoor enclosures. The USB-A connector is moulded for strain relief, protecting the internal converter from mechanical damage.

Unlike generic RS485 to USB adapters, this cable is tested and validated for use with Victron's communication protocols. This ensures compatibility out of the box and reduces the risk of data dropouts or configuration issues that can plague third-party solutions.

Ideal Applications

  • Connecting a Victron EM24 energy meter to a Cerbo GX for comprehensive energy monitoring
  • Integrating multiple meters in three-phase or hybrid inverter systems
  • Retrofitting energy metering into existing Victron installations
  • Professional marine, RV, and off-grid power systems requiring precise energy data
  • Commercial solar and storage projects where long cable runs are necessary

Simplify Your Energy Monitoring Setup

Upgrade your Victron system with the official RS485 to USB interface cable and gain full visibility of your energy flows. Whether you're fine-tuning self-consumption or managing a complex off-grid installation, this cable delivers the reliable data link you need.

Add the Victron RS485 to USB interface 5m cable to your order today and ensure your energy meter communicates seamlessly with your GX device.

The Epson F170 has been ideal for getting started with sublimation. It's easy to use, prints vibrant and defined colors, and has allowed me to personalize various projects with excellent results. As a beginner, it has given me a lot of confidence to learn and create without complications. I definitely recommend it for anyone starting out in sublimation.

No returns and no support. If it doesn't work properly, too bad.
Style: Printer & Inks, Style: Printer & Inks
I was fairly happy with my Epson ET 2800, but was told that I'd get better colors with the F170. So I bit the bullet. The installation went smoothly and I was printing in short order. It was when I started printing items that had some dark gray that I noticed the problem. It was printing green. I contacted Epson tech support and they answered the phone almost immediately. (And how rare is that??) The woman I spoke with seemed to be familiar with the problem and advised me to modify the printer preferences and change the color correction from "ICM" to "No color correction". Well, it wasn't printing green anymore. Now the grays were brown. At this point, she ran out of ideas and gave me an email address for the second level of tech support and asked if I'd send a photo of the printed fabrics showing the problem. I did. That was over three weeks ago. I've sent a couple of followup emails, but they're ignoring me. But the best news was discovering that there are no returns on this product. I didn't think that was a thing with Amazon and I've never had any problems before. So now the 30-day return window is about to elapse and it appears that I'm stuck with an oversized doorstop. In the photo I'm including with this review, the fabric on the upper-left was printed with my Epson ET 2800. On the upper right, the F170 with ICM color correction. On the bottom, the F170 with no color correction.
