Lavender Hyssop seeds can be started indoors or directly outdoors in spring, and also called Blue Giant Hyssop, and Anise Hyssop, this Hyssop features foliage with opposite, oval, toothed and whitish beneath leaves and produces dense, sturdy and erect terminal spikes of extremely fragrant, small, tubular, bright bluish-purple, lavender flowers. Blue Giant Hyssop is of the most ornamental native mints, and the entire plant is very fragrant - a mixture of mint and licorice. The sweet scented Hyssop flowers appear in summer in fall attracting masses of honeybees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
