"The aural pleasure created by this somewhat mysterious trio of London musicians continues to accrue. After two fine self-released records (one a 7", th' other a 12"), and the superb Drip Water Hollow Out Stone on the great Ever/Never label, Feeding Tube is honored to present the Mosquitoes' latest assault on the temples of beauty. The music on Vortex is of a piece with earlier recordings. By this, I mean there is a wonderfully 'out' approach to basic rock instrumentation and vocals, which détourns the basic assumptions listeners have about what rock instruments sound like. A good number of bands have done this in the modern era, from This Heat to U.S. Maple, but the only band the Mosquitoes continually call to my mind is late period Mars. That NYC unit had pretty much destroyed conventions of song and structure by the time they called it a day, and the instrumental/vocal mangling these guys do is equally brilliant. They really take every piece of sound apart and put it back together in a weird way. There are passages on Vortex that actually make me think of early Suicide as well (I think they use amp-noise-loops to approximate Rev's keyboards), but none of the music here has the aggression of Suicide. Instead, it projects a transcendent sense of confusion that is as head-scratching as it is appealing. If you like your music to be equal parts brains and power, you won't find many things more satisfying than the music of the Mosquitoes. Every one of their records is great. And they just keep getting better. How lucky for you." -Byron Coley, 2019 Edition of 250.

Dogs love it, hard to open and close
Size: Large, Color: Pink, Size: Large, Color: Pink
My dogs love this toy. It keeps them entertained a long time. Great calming toy for when you leave the house. Only issues is it is very hard to open and close. One of mine I had three people try to open and after fighting with it for about an hour I finally got it opened. Got 2, one a blue and pink one for each of my dogs. The blue is easier than the pink but still hard to do. Just not as bad. Can't close the pink all the way because it is so hard to close. The dog that uses it has trouble getting the stuff out of it. But it doesn't stop her from trying for hours to do so. Does get some teeth marks on it as well if they are aggressive chewer. Tried multiple eatable lubricating substances to try to make it easier but so far nothing fully worked. Aloe Vera has worked the best so far, but not great.

Good in theory, but didn’t fully deliver
Size: Large, Color: Green, Size: Large, Color: Green
My dog falls right on the size cutoff between the small and large Pupsicle. I initially ordered the large since he’s a strong chewer, but he had trouble getting everything out, so I ended up trying the small as well.
There are definitely some positives. I think the design is better than a Kong. It stays upright, which makes it less messy. I also really like the mold for making the inserts, instead of having to fill the toy itself and freeze it.
That said, there are two major design issues that impacted my experience. First, the all-rubber construction creates a lot of friction when screwing the bottom into the base, especially after repeated use. It gradually became harder to open, to the point where I was using coconut or avocado oil to try to loosen the threads. At one point I even needed a wrench and pliers just to get a better grip.
Second, while it’s marketed as dishwasher safe (which I was excited about for cleaning), it seems to dry out the rubber and makes the threading issue worse over time.
Unfortunately, mine is now permanently stuck shut and no longer usable. Overall, I like the concept, but the durability and usability issues make this a 3-star product for me. I’d recommend it with caution, especially if you plan to wash it frequently.

Last a while. Will be buying more toys soon.
Color: Consuela the Cactus - Large, Size: Large Dog
Best dog toy I have ever bought. I have three dogs, two at the time I bought this toy. It took them over a year to break through the first layer. The flower comes off first so be careful your dog doesn't swallow it. It still has the second layer so it still looks like a cactus. No stuffing to clean up when they tear into it, which makes it far less messy than other toys. One of my dogs is obsessed with fetch so I use it like a ball inside. The oval shape makes it hard to ensure when it bounces that it will bounce straight. It's bounced into walls and other stuff that I wasn't intending it to hit. Not much of a squeak so I can let them play with it for hours and I don't get annoyed with the noise. Great toy that lasts a while.

Nice Value
Color: Consuela the Cactus - Large, Size: Large Dog
Very cute! Its soft and feels like it is well made. It is a heavier toy and a tougher one. Not a plush toy. I will order again for our older dogs. Nice value for sure!

Great toy for our best boys!
Color: Consuela the Cactus - Large, Size: Large Dog
You can never go wrong with BarkBox toys and this was no exception. Our dogs like toys that have squeakers and that they can tear into. This style of toy fits the bill. The design is cute as well. I’ve had this in the house for months and, while it’s definitely seen better days, it’s still intact and they haven’t gotten to the inner layer. (Not for want of trying.)
The perfect type of toy for our fur babies.
