Jazz-meets-country in an impossibly hot session, ca. 1959! A platter of lightning-fast picking and impeccable taste from the legendary George Barnes! Chicago's George Barnes led a storied career as bandleader and session guitarist, including roles with national radio and television orchestras during the post-war days when electric guitar was being heard more frequently as a central instrument. His Gibson ES-300 had a singular sound that established his presence and persona among other players, and was heard on many hit records of the '50s and '60s including Connie Francis' "Lipstick on Your Collar." Country Jazz is a 1957 collection of originals and public domain songs reworked in the guitarist's style and sound, originally issued on the budget labels Colortone and Brigade. Listen as one of the early guitar gods turns tune after tune into six-string magic, working a collection of familiar songs into a truly new and exciting experience, presented here in it's original mono mix. The description on the back of the original album reads: "A wonderful collection of Western favorites that everyone will love-and played in the traditional Western style." The front cover features a more accurate explanation: "Great guitar solos in modern country jazz style"-as if "modern country jazz" was an established category-though, if anyone could establish a new species of music, it was George. Country Jazz was not designed to explore a new iteration of country music, but when George added his own twist of jazz to these rockabilly-tinged tunes the resulting influence was unmistakable. These arrangements of traditional folk and country songs represent the enjoyment George got out of crossing musical genres. He could (and would) play anything-which made him invaluable in the studios of Chicago and New York City, but also meant he defied categorization, inadvertently denying himself a prestigious place in any one class of musician. Country Jazz was fun for George; little did he know it would become one of his most influential recordings. It's been said that the terrific guitarist Danny Gatton learned the entire album note-for-note, and that it inspired Jimmy Bryant to record his Country Cabin Jazz in 1960. Young guitarists who hadn't yet been born when George died in 1977 are as enthralled by Country Jazz as rock guitarists are of anything from Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton, the latter even referencing George in his autobiography.

So sweet
Format: Kindle
It’s so unexpectedly sweet that it sneaks up on you. Each character is so unique and charming. I love the openness and honesty among their pack. It really blows me away how wonderful this omegaverse trope plays out.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Needs editing
Format: Kindle
Cute storyline and promising characters, but the lack of editing is painful to read. I would love to read an edited version.

Fantastic writing and non-stop action
Format: Kindle
This is a promising, fantastic beginning to what will be a 4-book series. Some readers may be content to read only the first 2 books, but I think you'll find that the story is so good that you'll want to keep reading books 3 and 4.
Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down.
There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.

Fun read
Format: Kindle
I'm not really into mafia books but I love Roxy Collin's other series so I decided to give it a try. It had the same great romance, spice, swoon-worthy characters and exciting plot that are her signature. Arben was my favorite, although it was a bit sudden how quickly he changed from ignoring her to wanting to be pack. There were almost too many twists/layers of lies to keep track of but I'm looking forward to reading the other books.
The only thing that detracted from the story for me was the need for a bit more proofreading. It was mentioned that Kelly is a female and male at different points, leading me to think she changed her mind at some point about the character's gender but didn't go back and edit it to align in all places. Like another reviewer pointed out, step siblings are different than half siblings. They are incorrectly referred to as step siblings because they (allegedly) share the same biological dad. There are a few other typos as well but those aren't a big deal.

Stepbrothers, Secrets, and Sizzling Heat
Format: Kindle
Twisted Lies by Roxy Collins is a wild ride through family secrets, amnesia, and a steamy stepbrother romance. When Kelly discovers her life is built on lies, she ends up tangled with three alpha stepbrothers and an assassin who once helped her through a heat.
The tension? Off the charts!
The heat is real, and the complications are messy in the best way. Full of twists, secrets, and fated mates? You'll be hooked from page one!
Love omegaverse drama with a dash of taboo? This one's for you!
