Pinhead Gunpowder Green Tea

Pinhead Gunpowder Green Tea from Zhejiang Province, China, has a surprising body with a captivating nutty, green taste. The leaves will open and sink slowly in graceful patterns.

Legend explains this tea was named Gunpowder by a young English clerk who thought the tiny rolled balls looked like Gunpowder.

We think he was quite right, but that is as far as the resemblance goes!

Grown between 1,000 and 2,000 ft above sea level in the Zhejiang Province, China, these leaves are specially selected for quality and size during April and May. Steamed and rolled in the time-honored process, the green tea leaves transform into pinhead-size nuggets.

An important ritual is to drop a pinch of the precious green tea into a porcelain cup and listen to the tinkle made as the leaves roll about.

Take care of the quantity you use; this tea is as potent as the name suggests.

Pour on water (not quite boiling) and notice the leaves opening gracefully and dancing in your teapot before sinking to the bottom!

Our pinhead gunpowder produces a much darker brew than most green teas, a memorable fragrance, and a lasting nutty flavor. Delicately delicious! And be sure to infuse the leaves multiple times.

Chinese researchers found gunpowder high in fluoride. Humans require 1-2 mg per day, and 3 cups of strong gunpowder tea will provide your daily requirement.

20 to 25 cups of tea can be made from 2 oz of loose-leaf tea.

Brewing Instructions for Pinhead Gunpowder Green Tea

Steep this tea multiple times as loose-leaf teas have far more flavor than traditional tea bags due to their superior quality and freshness. Tea strength is a personal decision, so please experiment to determine your preferences.

Use water between 180 and 190 degrees F, or allow boiling water to stand for 2 minutes. Steep your Green Tea for as little as 1 minute, but not more than 4 minutes. For each of the following steeps, use water of the same temperature and double the steep time.

Pinhead Gunpowder Green Tea can be steeped at least two times and, depending on the steep times, as many as four times. Also, consider blending the first steep with the following steeps to balance the tea; if you do not want to drink all the tea, store it in the fridge for wonderful iced tea.

Store in a dry place.

Enjoyed by puppy
Excellent puppy teether. Stands up to games of tug-o-war, satisfies the need for chewing on the "bone" and she likes it when it's been cooled. I wet the fabric part before popping it in the fridge. So far, it's held up well to her sharp puppy teeth. Definitely a repeat purchase item.

Puppy is obsessed, so are my adult dogs!
These were a life saver while my puppy was teething. He absolutely LOVED these and somehow the little cloth attached to it held up extremely well. I'm not sure if it was the textures or the flavor/scent but this was by far his favorite toy. He's 6 months now and will always run to this. Our adult dogs have accidentally gotten ahold of these a few times and it holds up well to them too (thankfully). Super soft and great to also throw in the freezer to soothe their teeth while teething. This is a great value and if it's something that keeps the pup occupied, I'm all for it!

Probably best for medium to large dogs
I got these for my teething Japanese Chin pups & they can’t really chew the blue part because it’s too large for small dogs. I usually just barely wet the rag & wrap treats up inside, tucking it inside itself before freezing to make something more enriching for them. They like it overall.
