James A. Dunn was a signalman on the USS Mason, a destroyer escort during World War II, the only oceangoing warship in the navy to employ African Americans in positions other than cook or messmate. Manned by African American seamen (and commanded by white officers), the ship made ten crossings of the Atlantic from 1944 to 1945, escorting convoys of merchant ships to and from the United Kingdom and North Africa and operating in hunter-killer groups searching for German submarines.Dunn kept a day-to-day diary during his spare time on board the Mason. Such diaries are a rarity, for the navy (and other armed services) forbade the keeping of diaries, fearful lest secret information fall into enemy hands. The diary chronicles the Mason's wartime activities, from the first convoy to the final return to the United States. It captures the feeling and meaning of life on board with an immediacy not fully found in retrospective accounts. The diary accurately records the mortal danger Dunn and his shipmates were in while attacking enemy submarines or dealing with extreme weather conditions in the North Atlantic. It conveys the boredom the men encountered while confined on long, tedious convoys and the joy of shore leaves. Here is the daily life aboard ship-the duties and the pastimes that made shipboard life endurable.
Equally interesting, the diary reveals what it meant to be an African American in a white navy within a segregated American society, the shipboard tensions, and the shipboard cooperation and sense of unity. It also portrays the life of an African American onshore in the United States, Great Britain, and North Africa and the love story that unfolded between James and his wife, Jane.
Supplemented by additional sources, including interviews with Dunn, this diary is a personal view into an important part of American history. Like the Tuskegee airmen, the men of the USS Mason paved the way for desegregation in America's armed forces, contributing to a civil rights movement that changed the face of a nation.

I’ve had a chance to test these thoroughly, and here is how they break down based on the key features:
Quality & Controls: The build quality is good, and the controls are intuitive and easy to use.
Battery: Excellent. It lasts a very long time on a single charge.
Sound & Music: Very good for music listening, though the noise canceling is very bad. You will hear most of what is going on around you.
Comfort: Not for long-term use. After a while, they cause noticeable pain on the ears.
Call Quality: Quite bad. If you are doing any work or moving around, the person on the other end will be bothered by the background noise.

The Sony WH-CH520 is a solid device in terms of build quality and controls, and the battery life is truly impressive. If you just need a pair of headphones for short music sessions, these sound great.
However, I found the value for money to be average due to a few major flaws. First, the comfort is lacking; they start to hurt my ears after wearing them for a short while. Second, the noise canceling is very poor—don't expect these to block out your environment. Finally, I do not recommend these for phone calls. The mic picks up way too much ambient noise, which makes it frustrating for the person you are talking to.

Soft, fluffy, wash and dry perfectly, snuggly, comfy--GET A FEW! You will love them!

This is my third purchase of this item! I love these blankets--soft, fluffy, snuggly, but lightweight. They keep you warm but not overly so--I miss these when I travel because hotels just don;t have anything even close to these soft blankets! I have them in the MBR, Guest BR and an extra. I also bought one recently to line the seat of a wagon for toddlers who will be riding along with the bridal party--will keep them comfy but since it isnt bulky it won't interfere with the wagon appearance. The ones I have wash up very nicely and I do put them in the dryer on low and they come up nice and fluffy--the price is fantastic too! For storing themm, they take almost no room at all! Get a couple-your sleep and sweet dreams will thank you!

After 8 years, still a great blanket! Holds up to pets too!

This is a lovely king-size blanket. It is lightweight comfort for chilly days. It can be used with other blankets for additional warmth as needed. I have two older Bedsure king-size blankets (teal and camel) that are 8 years old now and they have maintained their color. I used them for bedspreads for queen-size beds that cover well. They do have some slight wear but are still in good shape - holding up to cats and dogs. The latest purchase are two grey king-size blankets that I am using to cover an old, two-cushion style couch. I needed the extra width for tucking in the cushions and completely covering the arms, sides, and back of the couch. The new look and comfort is also holding up to the 10-year old dog who likes to nap on the couch occasionally. I have found that these blankets do well with spot cleaning as needed. Pet hair does not seem to cling to these blankets and as needed, I use a lint brush. When washing, I wash them on gentle cycle with regular detergent. I use a little vinegar in the rinse cycle. I hang them outside to dry and they dry quickly. On a rare occasion I use the dryer and when I do, there is very little lint from blanket. With the new grey blankets, I followed the gentle reminder noted on the plastic bag and - took the blanket directly from the bag (there was no smell) and put it in the dryer on low heat (about 15 to 20 minutes) and it came out full looking and fluffy soft (luxurious feeling actually). I really like these blankets and recommend them highly to friends and family. I hope this is helpful to you.

Very soft and cozy

I bought this for the bed, but the second it arrived my husband claimed it. It is so incredibly soft and cozy, but lightweight enough that you don't overheat. The grey color looks great with our decor, and I love that it doesn't get static- like other fleece blankets. It also washed really well and didn't shed at all.

Like to snuggle up in soft warm blankets? This one's for you

I purchased this after the one I had previously received as a gift was ruined. That's how much I love this blanket. It doesn't get that weird rougher texture after washing that some of these fleece blankets get. It's ridiculously soft and so warm and comforrtable. The sizing is totally accurate and I slept like a toasty warm baby using this product. It's a blanket so use is self explanatory. Put it on your bed or couch or wherever you want and snuggle in for warmth and comfort. It's a very high quality product for a very reasonable, even affordable price. If you like high quality products that everyone can afford then this is the blanket for you. This even improved the quality of my sleep. It does have some stretch, but it's not overly stretchy. Believe me, this blanket would be a welcome addition to your home.
