Explode the Code is a researched-based, multisensory, Orton-Gillingham based program that builds essential literacy skills through direct, systematic, phonics instruction. Providing a comprehensive overview of phonological awareness, decoding, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, and spelling, students will gain the skills they need to read words, phrases, sentences, and stories on their own.

Explode the Code Book 2 introduces students to the sounds of initial and final consonant blends and is ideal for students in grades 1-3. Skills addressed through a variety of encoding, decoding, and writing exercises include initial blends (bl, cl, fl, gl, sk, sl, pl, cr, dr, gr, br, fr, pr, tr, sm, sn, sp, st, sw, tw) and ending blends (mp, sk, st, fr, lt, nt, lf, lp, nd, nk). Students also practice blending sounds to read and write one-syllable words. Two review lessons are included along with a posttest.

• Revised student directions for precision and ease of understanding
