"I will show them there is at least one Mexican in the country who is not afraid of a Texas cowboy." Having drawn the line, teenager Elfego Baca backed up his words with his six guns. Nobody, but nobody, even Texans, would any longer subject the peaceful Mexican settlers of the New Mexico frontier to abuse, mutilation or humiliation. It took Baca just thirty-six hours in the fall of 1884 to earn his reputation as savior of the Hispanics of the Territory of New Mexico. When the gun-smoke had blown away, the eighty Texans who had poured over 4,000 bullets and a few charges of dynamite into the hut where the teen had taken refuge, toasted his survival with drinks at Milligan's Whiskey Bar. In the sixty years that followed, Elfego made himself into a lawyer often known for sleaze, a politician suspected of dealing under the table, a guy who liked his liquor too much, a bankrupt, and the object of a $30,000 reward by Pancho Villa. But why? Why did the hero fall from grace? Stan Sager has laid out the reasons for Baca's heroism and why he later destroyed his own reputation. Sager's book looks into the hero's childhood in Kansas to find the roots of both his valor and his vulnerability. It tells of the events of his young manhood that made it necessary for the kid who grew up in Topeka speaking English only, to fit himself into the Spanish-speaking community of Socorro the only way he knew how--by bravado and bluster. It relates the bizarre activities that led him to lose his reputation as a hero. And finally, it explains why the hero self-destructed, and it pleas for his forgiveness. Sager is a retired New Mexico attorney who has tried lawsuits and argued cases all over the state. He's the author of several published articles, including Elfego Baca. He co-founded a law firm in Albuquerque, which grew into one of the largest in New Mexico and has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico School of Architecture. He was a State Bar Commissioner, and has received numerous awards for his service to low income persons, including the Professionalism Award, as well as the LaFollette Pro Bono Award and others. He was given the Judge Woodrow B. Seals Award by the Perkins School of Theology, SMU, for service to the church, the community and the world for setting up an internal audit department within The United Methodist Church, writing denominational fiscal policies, and his work on behalf of those in poverty. In retirement, he serves on the State Supreme Court's Commission on Access to Justice, recently formed to help the poor of the state obtain access to justice. Stan has contributed historical articles to State Bar publications, and has written articles on disability for various magazines and newspapers. Today he speaks often on Elfego Baca and on issues relating to Navajo mythology and theology.

Mounting system doesn’t align on one of three shelves.
Color: Walnut, Size: 3 Pack
Nice shelves. Install was super easy except on one of the three shelves. The main mounting shelf holes were off so the shelf will not slip onto horizontal mounting poles unless I modify the shelf. So a 20 minute job becomes a two hour job. The mounting system does appear very sturdy just not aligned.

Perfect little chair-side table!
Color: Rustic Brown + Black, Item Package Quantity: 1
I can plug in my tablet, sit my wine glass on it, and my phone, keep a pen holder handy, and store my current reading material - all out of the dog's damage zone due to the tiny space I was able to fit it in. Easy to assemble, including 1 extra screw and bolt, just in case. I did have to use a screw-starter (drill would also work) to get the screws in for the plug unit, but that was no big deal. Very happy with this purchase!

Great Set!
Color: Rustic Brown + Black, Item Package Quantity: 2
I purchased the set of 2 and they were delivered in one box shipped together. Fair cost for what's received, I was needing these for my couch side and recliner. Buying the set ensures both tables are identical in style and height. It's the right amount of tallness for drinks and remotes. It seems pretty durable but will tip easily if not against the wall. The feet that offer leveling do not have any traction and may easily slide if not on a carpeted area. The folding basket fits snug and has enough room for a throw blanket, some of your favorite games or balled up cables. The basket only pulls out from the long side, so up against the wall it will not be pushed out by your cat. The plug works as intended but is essentially a mounted extension with 2 USB ports. This brings the plug out from behind the couch, love it. Assembly took around 10 minutes each - 20 minutes total. Every peice was individually wrapped in plastic. I was missing some hardware but my husband had some extra. The allen key driver tool and the mounting screws for the plug insert didnt come with my set, everything else was accounted for. I built them from the top up with no tools and no problems. If you over tighten the legs they will crack in the plastic threading a may cause a loose fit. Works great for our use and we're glad we got them! If the sliding feet is an issue, just fill them with hot glue and reinstall.

Perfect for limited space
Overall, I think these side tables are decent and work well for a small living room. They were easy to assemble and the size is perfect for limited space. The only minor issue I had was with the adjustable feet—on two of the legs, the plastic foot came off and wouldn’t stay attached. I tried pushing the plastic piece back onto the screw, but couldn’t get it to stay in place.

I made a great choice purchasing this side table!
Color: Rustic Brown + Black, Item Package Quantity: 1, Color: Rustic Brown + Black, Item Package Quantity: 1
This is the perfect side table when space is limited. It was easy to assemble. The functionality to charge my tech is a major plus. A sturdy fabric basket, which is provided is a great way to store the little extras. A great value for the small price. It also arrived very quickly.
